Tower Academia de Inglés
Ecija (Seville)
TOWER Academia de Inglés is situated in attractive, modern premises in the centre of Ecija (Seville).
GENERAL INFORMATION
Our main area of work is teaching English to Young Learners with some additional one-to-one ESP classes for adults. The school is a Trinity Examinations Centre.
The priority commitments of our centre are student motivation and teacher development.
The School has earned recognition in the local community as a centre for quality teaching. We use a communicative approach in the classroom, combining established practices with more innovative techniques.
The staff at present includes a Director of Studies, a secretary and four native speaker teachers, specialising in different age groups. There are approximately three hundred and eighty students.
COURSES AND STUDENTS
Our students range in age between three and adult, with the largest percentage being seven to twelve year olds. Motivation and enthusiasm is high and, from the age of seven, students can have their progress assessed by external examinations. Children from three to ten years old enjoy presenting an informal end of year show for their parents.
We use General English courses specifically designed for children and adolescents. Younger students attend two sessions of 55 minutes per week, while older students' sessions are 85 minutes each. Maximum class size is twelve.
Students' capacity to learn English is developed through a pleasant and motivating experience. Games, songs, drama and art are incorporated into the classes.
One to One ESP classes are popular with professionals who wish to maintain their level and/or practice for state examinations
Exam Preparation is currently in progress for the Cambridge First Certificate and Trinity oral exams, as well as the for the English section of the Access to University and Civil Service exams.
Summer Courses in England at "The Oxford English Centre" are arranged for young people and adults in family-stay accommodation. Five to fourteen year olds go to a residential "English Summer Camp" in the nearly mountains.
TEACHERS AND RESOURCES
All our teachers are native speakers who have a degree and a recognised certificate to teach English as a foreign language.
They work an average of twenty two contact hours a week in the afternoons and a maximum of three additional hours a week on teachers' meetings, school projects, materials development or research.
Staff support and development: Teachers receive support from the Director of Studies whilst being encouraged to develop their own style of teaching and explore areas of personal professional interest.
Individual meetings are held to follow the progress of the classes and students, and to discuss further action plans.
In-house training is provided in the form of class observation with feedback, and monthly seminars. We also attend Teacher Training sessions in Seville and Cordoba.
In the Office
All teachers have access to a photocopier, two computers with broadband internet connection and a printer in the school office. There is also a library of children's picture and reading books. These facilities are available for supervised student use in class time.
In the Classrooms
The school has four large and sunny classrooms which are all equipped with a large whiteboard and pin-board, hifi sytem player, table, shelves and two TVs with DVD and video players.
