The Milladoiro centre is located at the heart of this developing commuter town, the centre is bright, modern and offers 6 good sized classrooms, a library, teacher's resource room, bathrooms and a large reception area.
Each classroom is fully equipped with TV/ DVD, WIFI access, Storage unit for teachers, shelves for folders, Teachers material; board pens, rubbers, pencils etc
There is an interactive whiteboard, projector and laptop for teacher's use in the library, which has ample space for students to have class, for private study, or to take a book, magazine, DVD, Video, or CD ROM for home use.
The teacher's resource room provides a wealth of photocopiable material, course books, flash cards, DVDs for class use, grammar references, communication activities and much more. Additional to this are tea and coffee making facilities for all members of staff.
Our classes are all comfortable and light with modern installations. Classes are mostly in the afternoon and evening; however, there are a few classes in the mornings. Adults and children come twice a week; children's classes are one hour in length and adults 1.5 hour, except Friday when children come once a week for two hours.
El Centro Britanico is the centre in Santiago de Compostela for the University of Cambridge ESOL examinations and offers courses specially designed for the preparation of these exams.
El Centro Britanico encourages and actively supports professional development. There is a weekly meeting during which there are presentations, training workshops, personal development time, discussion sessions, and administrative work and parents meetings. We have a system of observation that allows for feedback on classes and additional optional observation on request. Where possible we also encourage teachers to attend conferences and conventions set in the local area and provide funding for attendance at national events.
Each teacher is issued with a personal development file at the beginning of term to record training sessions attended, conventions attended, training sessions, workshops and presentations given as well as work that the teacher has created; handouts, projects, worksheets etc.
We are committed to teacher development and see this as an important aspect in maintaining high standards in the classroom.
