Valladolid
The capital of the Castille & Leon province, Valladolid is an historic university city, about two hours north of Madrid.
It has a population of 500,000, and is within easy reach of many places of interest in northwest Spain.
Cervantes wrote Don Quixote here, Columbus died here, and it was the adopted capital of Spain during the plague years. Like much of Spain, it is developing quickly so that it is an interesting mix of old and new.
Parquesol. a modern suburb about 15 minutes from Valladolid city centre, was established over 20 years ago and has one of the highest birthrates in Western Europe.
