Questions YOU Should Ask at an Interview for a TEFL Job in Spain

  1. Will the contract be full-time or part-time?
  2. If full-time, what are the teaching hours? Of the rest for preparation, what is the school policy about being on the premises? Will I be covered by Social Security from day one?

  3. Will I have syllabuses to follow?
  4. If so, how much of me am I permitted to put into each class?
    Is there much resource material available?
    What is the school policy on photocopies?

  5. Is there much paperwork (reports and assessments etc.)?
  6. If there is, what is involved?

  7. What is the school policy on Spanish in the class-room?


  8. Will my opinion on the makeup of the class be considered if, for example, I should consider a certain student unsuitable for a particular class?


  9. What help might I expect if I have discipline problems?


  10. Is there any assistance with finding accommodation at the start?


  11. If there are school holidays at Christmas and Easter, will I be paid the full month?
  12. If so, will I be paid before the holidays begin?

  13. If I should wish to stay on for another year, what should I do about it and when?


  14. Will I be given the complete school calendar before the first term begins?
